The Vision for Tutamoe

What do we want to achieve?

We are focused on preserving and protecting our historically idyllic Community Buildings and Grounds. Bringing a balanced, fair, and self-sustainable Community into effect. Creating awesome opportunities that benefit all who wish to be a part of it. Designing a model Community for other Rural towns to be inspired by or replicate. Participating in a Global movement towards a cleaner, greener, more abundant World. Our Regional Councils and Governments are focused on Making Communities thrive again and we support this wholeheartedly.

Our Vision is to create and offer

  • An Educational base for Correspondence, Online Learning, Courses and possibly hiring a Teacher and having a small Rural School again in the future.

  • A Community Centre for local use. A place to come together and connect. For Meetings, BBQ's, Movie Nights on a projector screen, a Communal Library, Garden and Book clubs, Exercise and Yoga classes, Baby/Toddler and Preschool groups.

  • Workshops/Seminars - Carving, Painting, Art, Preserving, Gardening, Permaculture, Regenerative Practices and more.

  • A place to bring the kids to have fun with a basketball hoop, sandpit, flat sports field with goals and a covered heated swimming pool, offering the local kids swimming lessons. Possibly a playground one day.

  • Community Gardens and Orchards. Beehives. Run by and for the Locals.

  • A Tree Nursery. Potting up Native seedlings from the base of Mother trees. Working with DOC as they seed bank our Natives to insure their future. We want to play our part too. We can offer School "Environmental Field Trips". To learn about Native species and the importance of looking after NZ's Environment and Eco Systems.

  • A Memorial Wall with framed photographs, stories, and information. Showcasing Tutamoe's Pioneer History and the families whose determination created what we have today.

  • Market Days, Fundraisers and Events. Hiring the Complex out. Tourism could have real potential for us in the future!

  • An in-store and online Tourism Souvenir Shop, giving Tutamoe's talented locals a platform to sell their goods. It has been said the NZ cycleway will link with the Waoku Coach Road. This could widen our employment options further than solely farm jobs. To entice new people wishing to relocate.

  • An onsite extensive First Aid Kit, Defibrillator, and organised First Aid courses.
